Bainimarama says the army will accept anyone as Prime Minister.

Bainimarama said the army did not have to fear anything from Labour when asked on Australia’s Channel 9 Sunday programme last night whether he would accept an Indian PM. "Let me tell you that anyone can be a better Prime Minister than what we have had in the last five years."
Caretaker PM Laisenia Qarase told the programme it was the failure of the leadership of the Labour Party at that time that contributed to the upheavals we had. "There is no guarantee that they will lead our country peacefully into the future. "We must have our properties and our homes protected," Qarase said.
Commodore Bainimarama said the army was determined there would be no coup. "If there is any thought of anyone coming up with any coup making in the next election, they will have to be ready to face the consequences,"he said.
Police Commissioner Andrew Hughes echoed the army chief’s sentiments. "We are not going to allow some radical elements who decided they don’t like the outcome of the democratic process and they’re going to take the law into their own hands and change it, no that’s not going to happen," Hughes said.
